exists to empower the Asian American community through advocacy,
research, education and coalition building.
Section 203 of the Voting Rights Act now covers 45 Asian language groups located in 27 counties, boroughs, census areas or cities. This includes six new Asian language groups that have been added to Section 203 coverage since the previous list was released in 2011.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice opposes the nomination of Congressmember Tom Price (R-Ga) as Health and Human Services (HHS) Secretary. As a member of Congress, Rep. Price has been one of the lead critics of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act (ACA) and has repeatedly attempted to repeal or gut the ACA.
Asian Americans Advancing Justice condemns the President-elect’s choice of Senator Jeff Sessions as United States Attorney General. Sessions, has opposed civil rights and been a proponent of anti-immigrant policies at every turn. Sessions’ record of disenfranchising and denying the rights of people of color, immigrants, and Muslim communities should disqualify him for the nation's top legal position.
