Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago vows continued support in movement to end police violence

With the release of a video capturing the horrific murder of Laquan McDonald by Chicago Police Department Officer Jason Van Dyke, Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago reinforces our solidarity with BYP100, We Charge Genocide, and other Black-led community organizations who have taken the lead in this movement to end police violence in our city, while also lifting up our condolences and support to the family of Laquan.

The murders of Laquan McDonald, Rekia Boyd, and the countless other lives brutalized by police, further validate the systemic and historical oppression of Black lives.

Advancing Justice | Chicago will continue to follow the lead of the aforementioned organizations, offering our support in the movement to end police violence and increase police accountability. Right now, we recognize the need to respect Black lives, Black healing, and Black resistance.
