As you may be aware, the website Prestige du Monde has posted an article online that falsely alleges that the Asian American Institute is under investigation for several cases of alleged employment discrimination.
The article references a claim that was dismissed by the Illinois Department of Human Rights in May 2012. Asian American Institute is not under investigation of any kind. No other charges of discrimination are pending or have been filed against Asian American Institute. Other information that is presented in the article, including emails from former staff, names of volunteers, and quotes attributed to staff, are completely false and have been fabricated by persons outside of AAI.
As a civil and human rights group, Asian American Institute takes these allegations very seriously. AAI will vigorously defend its reputation and strong track record as an equal opportunity employer. We are working with our legal counsel to address this matter appropriately. While this is an unfortunate situation, we will not allow it to distract us from our mission, and we remain fully committed to fighting discrimination and creating a fair and equitable society for everyone.
