Restoration of funding a “good first step”

CHICAGO — Asian Americans Advancing Justice | Chicago recognizes the restoration of $26 million of funding for social service programs as a good first step by Governor Bruce Rauner.

“Restoration of these essential programs would not have happened without Asian Americans, immigrants, and other communities across the state coming together to demand that Governor Rauner to do the right thing,” said Tuyet Le, Executive Director of Advancing Justice | Chicago. “This is a good start, but we will continue mobilizing our community to ensure that this funding is restored for fiscal year 2016 and beyond.”

Advancing Justice | Chicago and its partners in the Pan-Asian Voter Empowerment (PAVE) Coalition will be mobilizing 400 community members to rally in Springfield on May 21st to meet with legislators and call for the continued restoration of essential social service funding.
