Ankur Singh

Ankur is the Communications Manager for Advancing Justice | Chicago. He fell into doing communications work via his passion for filmmaking as a child when he used to make short films with his friends. When the Occupy movement started, he showed up to protests with his camera and began putting videos on the internet of rallies and never looked back.

Prior to joining Advancing Justice | Chicago, he was the Director of Operations at the National Lawyers Guild of Chicago and also did communications for SEIU Local 1 where he worked on countless campaigns fighting to improve working conditions for workers across the Midwest.

He’s also a freelance journalist and a Co-founder of Cicero Independiente, a hyperlocal bilingual news outlet in Cicero Illinois. He’s reported on a variety of topics from labor, police violence, education, local politics, issues related to the South Asian diaspora and more.

When he’s not working you can find him gardening, running, playing with his cat, or reading a book.
